Our Schools
Elementary Schools
Waterford has 9 elementary sites where students benefit from building-wide instruction and enrichment time set aside to meet their specific needs. Students may be part of a multi-age classroom or a Leader in Me School, where they learn at an early age how to apply the principles of Stephen Covey's Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. In addition to the K-5 elementary schools, Waterford provides a nationally accredited early childhood program at the Stepanski Early Childhood Center. Each school offers expertise and experience in the areas of physical education, art, music, technology and All Day, Every Day Tuition-Free Kindergarten.
Middle Schools
The two middle schools in Waterford — Mason and Pierce — employ staff and teachers who are dedicated to making middle school a challenging and rewarding experience. A high priority is placed on ensuring students learn in a healthy and welcoming environment that promotes mutual trust, respect and collaboration. Students are provided excellent academic and co-curricular programs that challenge them to achieve success. Staff encourages students to take responsibility for their learning and are committed to providing students with the support necessary to meet these high standards. Advanced learners have opportunities to earn high school credits while still in middle school.
High Schools
Waterford has three high schools — Kettering, Mott, and Durant. Our high schools offer a wide range of learning opportunities including advanced placement and honors courses, performing and visual arts, and career and technical education. The Academic Centers at Kettering and Mott allow students of all ability levels to come together on a daily basis in order to benefit from additional time, support, and assistance from teachers and classmates. High school students may also benefit from participation in such off-campus programs as dual enrollment, where they earn college credit, the International Academy, and Oakland Technical Campus.
