Job Summary

Provides Engineering technical support on daily basis to SPX Transformer Solutions  Components  operations,  for all production processes related to the manufacturing, assembly packaging of all reverse engineered products, standard products, and potential new products. Manages the development, implementation, and maintenance of all Dallas facility production processes in a manner that facilitates revenue growth.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide day to day technical production support for current and future products manufactured in Dallas. Work closely with Operations Manager and shop floor personnel to resolve manufacturing issues (i.e. deviations from shop drawings, tolerance issues, identify and specify replacements for obsolete materials and components)
  • Support QC Manager with resolution of product issues, Continuous Improvement / Lean / Six Sigma initiatives related to manufacturing processes and product design, work process procedure development and maintenance. Provide technical support to QC and Purchasing to resolve supplier product quality issues.
  • Lead development of production processes and procedures relating to the operation of the components business, including product structure, manufacturing techniques, plant process improvement, time / work studies, workstation layout, shop floor product flow, and identification of product test requirements.
  • Perform failure analysis on customer product, identify appropriate materials and suppliers, coordinate and lead prototype manufacture, assembly & testing, write technical reports. Provide training to new personnel on reverse engineering tools and methods, standard evaluation guidelines for reverse engineered and new products.
  • Assist Operations manager with design and implementation of various plant improvement, safety, and focused productivity enhancement projects.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Simultaneous execution of multiple key engineering and production strategic initiatives.
  • Providing day to day immediate technical support to plant production on a wide variety of equipment.
  • Selecting appropriate materials and components to meet specific performance criteria,
  • Developing test plans and specifications to demonstrate product performance for given application.
  • Understand business processes including finance, marketing, planning, purchasing, material control, manufacturing, and quality assurance, and shop floor safety.
  • Understanding of ANSI / IEEE standards and applicability to new products designed for use on transformers and load tap changers.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required Education / Experience

  • BS/BA degree in Electrical / Mechanical / Industrial engineering
  • 5 years' of experience in a manufacturing and production environment. 
  • Previous experience with in work process product flow analysis

Key Working Relationships

  • Service and Components organization management team consisting of Facility General Manager, Director of Engineering, Operations Manager, QC Manager, Sourcing Director, and peer Engineering groups (including R&D Group) from WN and WS facilities.

Physical Demands
