Job Description:
The role of  Director of Product Management  will work collaboratively with corporate HQ teams to help oversee and manage defined product categories and execute retail and marketing business plans. This individual will become a subject matter expert in HFT's product development process, providing guidance on next steps, deliverables and follow-up action items, ensuring issues are resolved and communicated.  Additionally, this role will be responsible for coordinating project development and communicating projects status as it relates to deadlines.  It will be critical that he or she work successfully across multiple departments to ensure all stakeholders are actively engaged in the completion of the project. This position will partner with various departments from Marketing, Operations, Inventory, Global Sourcing, Quality, E-commerce, IT and Finance/analytics to ensure input during strategic development and will be directly responsible for department implementation and execution.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partner with corporate HQ's team of category managers and help execute overall product strategy including: pricing, product assortment, marketing and promotional strategy and in-store merchandising strategy
  • Help develop product and marketing plans and processes that drive efficiency, profitability
  • Responsible for providing business analysis, measurement and reporting using internal data as well as independent external industry sources through research and industry best practices to define product strategy.
  • Participate in and contribute to strategic planning sessions.
  • Responsible for coordinating project development and communicating projects status as it relates to deadlines.
  • Collaborate with global sourcing and global quality teams to drive quality and sourcing initiatives
  • Inventory collaboration and management for sales planning and item transition forecasting
  • Ability to multitask and direct multiple projects simultaneously
  • Collaboration with brand development and packaging team to drive process improvement and output
  • Collaboration with the operations team in order to execute programs
  • Provides positive and constructive feedback to employees by coaching, mentoring, counseling or corrective guidance and action, as appropriate.
  • Provides strategic and tactical leadership in category management that insure financial goals, improved efficiencies and that ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Ensures implementation of the business plan for Harbor Freight Tools that establishes a rapport, promotes partnership and fulfills the organizations needs and expectations.

Requirements:
Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelors' Degree preferably with a Business major or related field
  • 5+ years of merchandising or product marketing experience required
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Financial analysis experience required
  • Refined critical thinking skills
  • Excellent time management and planning skills, organized with the ability to multitask, exceptional follow up skills and able to meet deadlines
  • Ability to make decisions quickly, based upon a combination of analysis, experience, wisdom and judgment
  • Flexible personality with the ability to deal with ambiguity and to think outside the box and provide a continuous flow of new ideas and process improvements.
